This is my cold coffee creation.
There’s to ways of making it (that I know of):
1. Cold brew. People who like cold brew argue that it’s less bitter than hot brew, which allows the coffee’s other flavors to seep out. I personally could not taste the difference, but here it is:
To 1 cup pf water add 1/3 cup of ground coffee. Let it sit for 12 hours. (covered). After the 12 hours, filter the coffee grains out of the coffee concentrate. Some people do this twice, to properly remove the grains. I did it only once, and I kinda liked the taste of my concentrate after a day with the small bit of grains left…
Anyway, most people use the 1/3 coffee to 1 cup of water ratio, and leave for 12 hours, but a lot of people vary it up. I’ve found that with these things it’s a lot of trial and error and you eventually find your preferred balance. :)
2. Hot brew. When you are planning on making iced coffee, you usually have to make a coffee concentrate, which requires a higher ratio of coffee to water. I use a complete coffee serving of my little espresso machine (which is about 1/4 cup) to 1 cup of water. It’s a pretty concentrated result, but you know, vary it up as you wish.
After I brew it, I let it cool and stick it in the fridge. I usually serve it with just milk and ice but, as I know drinking too much milk isn’t exactly the healthiest thing around, I sometimes add water. I usually add a 1:2 ratio. 1 concentrate, 2 milk (it’s very concentrated…)
Anyway, the pics here are 2 cups of concentrate (in the jar), and a quick mix of concetrate, ice and milk.
I suggest you dig around the internet a little bit if you want to try this :)
